Longevity Tests

When it comes to longevity, there are a ton of tests out there, and it can be overwhelming trying to figure out which ones are actually worth your time and money. I found myself in the same boat two years ago, spending time and money on tests without understanding which ones would make a real impact. After 18 months of trial and error, I finally figured out the right testing approach—and I want to save you the hassle.

Testing has become a core part of my strategy because it helps me pinpoint the areas where I should focus my efforts for maximum longevity. Whether it's bloodwork, a Dexa scan, or a Continuous Glucose Monitor, each test provides valuable insights that can shape your approach to health. Here's a breakdown of the key tests I rely on:

  1. Bloodwork: This is a foundational test that tracks vital biomarkers, customized for each individual. It costs around $500, and gives you a snapshot of your internal health. The results can guide you in making adjustments to improve your longevity.

  2. Dexa Scan: This quick and affordable scan measures your body composition, including muscle mass, fat percentage, and bone density. I was shocked to learn that despite years of gym workouts, my muscle mass and bone density were only average for my age. Getting a Dexa scan quarterly keeps me focused on what matters: body composition, not just weight.

  3. Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM): This device tracks your glucose metabolism and is crucial for understanding insulin resistance. At $100 for a month’s supply, it’s an affordable way to assess your metabolic health and make adjustments. For me, it’s not a top priority, but for many, it could be a game changer.

  4. VO2Max Test: This test measures cardiorespiratory fitness and is considered one of the top longevity biomarkers. I was disappointed with my first test results, but with targeted training, I raised my VO2Max from 39 to 51—a huge boost to my overall health and longevity.

Each of these tests has shaped my approach to living a longer, healthier life. They help me focus my energy and resources on what matters most. Stay tuned for my next blog, where I’ll share how to build a longevity lifestyle program based on these tests.

Here are the list of blood biomarkers we start with.
