Frequently Asked Questions
BrainAge estimates your brain’s biological age based on resting-state activity, while Cognition measures your brain’s real-time performance across focus, memory, and processing speed. Together, they offer both a static and dynamic view of brain health.
The BrainAge scan takes about 15 minutes, and the Cognition scan takes around 25 minutes. If you book both together, plan for roughly 45 minutes total including setup and review.
BrainAge results are available immediately after your session. Cognition reports are processed and delivered the same day, with detailed data on your brain’s cognitive performance.
Both scans use Kernel’s proprietary neuroimaging platform, validated through extensive research. They provide data-driven insights into your brain’s activity patterns and performance, though they are wellness tools — not medical diagnostic tests.
For BrainAge, you’ll wear the Kernel Flow headset and relax during a resting-state measurement. For Cognition, you’ll complete short, guided tasks while the headset measures real-time brain responses. Both are comfortable and non-invasive.
Yes. Kernel Flow uses harmless near-infrared light to track oxygenation in the brain — similar to a pulse oximeter. There’s no radiation, no magnetic fields, and no discomfort.
Absolutely. You can retest every 6–12 months to monitor changes in brain age, focus, and overall cognitive function — helping guide long-term health and performance strategies.
Scans are offered through Longevity Health’s SF Bay Area pop-up locations. You can view available times and locations directly through Calendly when scheduling.
Each scan — BrainAge or Cognition — costs $100 individually. You can also book both scans together for a bundled price of $500.
